All it needs is for people to subscribe and share the page so that the information can be disseminated throughout the web. But there are some people who exploit social networking sites, and businesses should be aware of the threats. One is the infringement of product design, logo, or statement by other hoax accounts. These hoax advertisements may cause damage to the name of the business. Not only that, it takes away the opportunity of giving a quality service to the customer. Small businesses using social media should are now checking the web for any copycats who are trying to steal customers from them. They have started implementing several procedures to turn down the fraudulent activities.

In another instance, there is also a threat of having a fake buyer, or sometimes called ‘joy bidders’, who bids on a product but has no intention of paying. Although the identity of the fake buyer may be easily searched through the social media sites, sellers have no means of taking back the time wasted on them. Thus, small business and social media groups go together as partners in building quality products and services. There is no concrete rules against online fake buyers, thus small business owners are careful in dealing with them. Small businesses use social media to protect their customers as well as to protect themselves from the threats mentioned above.
